Live Oak Plantation’s homebred 3-year-old Souper Legacy kicked off 2022 with a track record-setting performance in an allowance race on Jan. 7 at Gulfstream Park.
Souper Legacy came out of the gate running and took the lead early in the “about” 1 mile and 70 yard affair. Bird Wildcat was his closest pursuer as he set fractions of :48.77 and 1:13.04. Bird Wildcat came on even terms with a quarter mile to go, setting up a side-by-side stretch duel that went to Souper Legacy by a head. The final time was 1:41.98 on the synthetic surface.
Souper Legacy has now won two of his four starts and earned $68,961.
Souper Legacy, by Hard Spun, is the second foal to race out of Sweet Fortune, who has a 2-year-old full sister to Souper Legacy. Sweet Fortune is in foal to Live Oak’s Grade 1 winner Win Win Win for 2022.
