Live Oak Plantation’s homebred filly Our Flash Drive overcame a three-wide trip to win Sunday’s $135,000 De La Rose S. at Saratoga by a length over Plum Ali.
The 4-year-old filly was well off the rail the entire one-mile trip over the Inner Turf course, but was always within two lengths of the lead. She made the winning move swinging into the stretch, and surged past a pair of front-runners to get the distance in 1:35.42 on a firm course.
“I wasn’t comfortable [being wide] but there wasn’t much I could do about it at that point in time,” said winning trainer Mark Casse. “You always want to save ground, but I did tell him [Dylan Davis], ‘I think she’s the best horse in the race – ride her that way.’ And he did.”
Our Flash Drive, winner of both the Selene S. (G3) and Ontario Colleen S. (G3) in 2021, is now 4-2-1 in 11 starts and has earned $339,770.
The winner’s dam Dynamotor is a half-sister to Grade 1-placed Fast Falcon and has 2-year-old filly named Bell Witch, also by Ghostzapper, and a yearling filly by Omaha Beach. She was bred back to Mendelssohn for 2023.
